FLOWERING FROST EXHIBIT
Missouri Botanical Garden

Having documented hundreds of these incredible formations, the very best examples of these works of art will be on display from Sep 17 through Nov 21, 2010. Large photographic prints will be featured on the upper level of the MBG, bringing details of these delicate ice formations into expanded view for all to study and enjoy.

Frost Flower Formations
This relatively unknown phenomenon has several names including Frost Flowers, Ice Ribbons, Ice Flowers and Ribbon Ice. They form under ideal conditions and in Missouri are most common in undisturbed fields, forming along the base of White Crownbeard stalks (also known as Frostweed). These intricate creations testify to the great mastery that was breathed into the formation of this great Earth.
